Division II

Salvaged Railroad Rail
9' x 2' x 2'

Forged from railroad rail, this work intends to draw a parallel between landscape watersheds and railroad routes, which go hand in hand in resource extraction.  The title Division nods to the cultural divide that occurred in Whatcom county over a giant proposed coal export plant which eventually was rejected.  The conversation between the environment, natural resources and community health has been long standing and will likely continue for generations to come.

Placed outside Smith and Vallee Gallery in Edison, WA, this work contributes a minimal and organic aesthetic to entryway of this fantastic regional art gallery.
